GMO labeling – it should be a no-brainer, but greed and power keep getting in the way! Polls regularly show that more than 90% of Americans agree that genetically engineered foods should be labeled! Unfortunately, corporate America hasn’t gotten the memo.
In the past 2 years alone, giant biotech seed and chemical companies have donated more than $70 million dollars to defeat citizen-led GMO labeling ballot initiatives in California and Washington State.
Standing side-by-side with Monsanto for the past 2 years, executives at Coca-Cola have chosen to side with biotech seed and chemical companies like Monsanto and DuPont over the American public by donating more than $3.2 million to defeat GMO labeling ballot initiatives Prop 37 in California and I-522 in Washington State.
Tell Coke to kiss Monsanto goodbye and stop spending millions of dollars to kill GMO labeling campaigns in America! Join the Coke Boycott and tell Coke that you’ve had enough of their anti-transparency campaigns. Every voice counts!
What are Coke, Monsanto and the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) Trying to Hide?
Last year alone, Coke secretly funneled more than $1.5 million dollars through the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) in order to block the I-522 initiative in Washington that would have required the labeling of genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
It’s time for consumers to put their money where their mouth is and join the Coke Boycott so executives at Coca-Cola understand that standing with Monsanto is not what their customers want.
While you may not drink Coke or any of their popular sugary soda drinks, the company owns many brands that you might buy, including Honest Tea, Honest Kids, Zico Coconut Water, Odwalla, Powerade, Peace Tea, Vitamin Water and Simply Orange.
According to Bloomberg News, these Coca-Cola brands played a major role in a recent 13% increase in their fourth-quarter profits in 2012 and it’s time to hit them where it hurts the most – their wallets!
At Food Democracy Now! we think it’s time to show Coke and Monsanto the power of the market and remind them who they really work for. If Coke wants to keep siding with giant biotech seed and chemical corporations like Monsanto, DuPont and Dow Chemical, that’s their choice – but it’s time to remind them that in a democracy and a “free” market – we have a choice as well.
Goodbye Honest Tea, Honest Kids, Zico Coconut Water, Odwalla, Powerade, Peace Tea, Vitamin Water and Simply Orange – if Coca Cola executives stand against us, we will stand against them!
That’s why Food Democracy Now! is standing with the Food Revolution Network and Center for Food Safety to encourage you to join the Coke Boycott.
Food Democracy Now!, Center for Food Safety and Food Revolution are gearing up to bring this fight to Coke in a big way, and we need your voice behind us. Help us by joining the Coke Boycott Campaign!
Thanks again for participating in food democracy,
Dave, Lisa and the Food Democracy Now! team
